RAINBOW OREOS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, well, this was really a waste of time, but whatever. I will say that since a friend of mine put the person who inspired her on her blog, I should put my inspiration on mine.
Okay, here goes.
I have had an indescribably horrible past year and a half. I moved, found out my parents were splitting, had to live with my least favorite family member for a year, and had no access to horses for a long time. Then I started lessons. At first, all the easy horses were my favorite, because although I had ridden before and even had my own horse, I never had really gotten proper instructions for riding much. Now, here I was.
I was taught for a while by the first instructor, Paulina. She was a joy to have around, and taught me lots. Then, she moved and the owner of the barn taught for a while. Then, Rachel came along. She was a great instructor, and taught me a lot, too. Finally, Rachel left, and after some lessons with the barn owner, Emily came.
I know what you're thinking- with a name like Emily, what could be wrong? Well, she put us all in danger at least once, used our individual mistakes as examples for the whole class, and made us solve problems we NEEDED help on.
During this time, I met a mare that I already knew resided at the barn, but hadn't ridden before. Wimpy's Omni Bars, or Omni, is a mean mare. She is tall, has long strides, and is intimidating. She will bite you, run off with you, kick out her back legs while you're on her, and so much more. But she inspired me. Why? Because of a reason I can't explain. Every time I saw her, I was happy. I don't know what drew me to her, because she had some bad habits and a sour attitude, but I couldn't get enough of her. She loved jumping, but rushed at the jump. This was scary for me, and she also ran off with me once. Yet, we were best buds. I still can't say why, because I really don't know. But riding Omni always took me away from Emily. We worked well together until Emily set some crazy task upon me and Omni didn't want to and Emily refused to help and I freaked out and Omni kicked out with her back legs and I went back to a walk and stayed there. But she was amazing with ground work, she worked so well. And I remember how afraid of rain she was. One time, we had a lesson in the indoor arena on foot because it was raining, and Omni had her eyes wide and ears back. I knew how much we trusted each other at that moment, and I still forgive her for everything because I know from that moment that there is an innocent animal inside her. She just needs the right rider, and that both is and isn't me. I am that rider up until a certain extent, but then she needs a pro to handle her.
But I still know that somehow, no matter what she did, she drew me to her.
And that is our story, Long Live Omni.
Most Sincerely,
L.P.
